What is a Community of Practice?

A Community of Practice (CoP), unlike an e-learning platform or a webpage, has the unique characteristic of enabling knowledge sharing between organizations and individuals in a spirit of learning and collaborating.

These types of communities, instead of relying in vertical education, acknowledge that issues that arise in implementation are as important as having the correct research foundations. Therefore, they

do not only rely on experts’ analysis, but also welcome network participants own approaches and experiences in leading with certain efforts and challenges.

In some cases problems can be shared regionally and face-to-face communication can be a good option for peer assistance. Nevertheless, using technology in learning and dissemination matters can create wider networks and more active communities that foster innovation.
